Why Choose a CAFS to Protect My Home?

Applying Fire Retardant Foam using Aegis 2000 CAFSApplying Fire Retardant Foam with the Foam Fire Defense Aegis 2000 CAFS.Foam Fire Defense has a patent pending design which is the simplest, most effective and reliable Compressed-Air-Foam System (CAFS) available today for homes and businesses at risk to wildfire.

The most effective method of delivering a fire defense foam solution is with a Compressed-Air-Foam System (CAFS). Compressed-air-foam is the most versatile, efficient and cost effective fire suppression material used by fire fighting professionals today for most residential fires. Compressed-air-foam is roughly five times more effective than plain water in absorbing heat and extinguishing most residential fires. Compressed-air-foam attacks all three sides of the fire triangle:  heat, oxygen and fuel. With a pre-suppression foam application, a home and the surrounding fuels can be blanketed with a brilliant white layer of foam that reflects incoming radiant energy inhibiting ignition. The insulating characteristics of the foam layer prevents fire brands (hot embers) from entering vents and heat traps and preheating other fuel particles. The foam also separates the surface of the burning fuel from oxygen in the air causing flame suffocation. Finally, the foam acts as a heat sink by absorbing the heat generated by the combustion process and uses this energy to evaporate water contained in the foam rather than to propagate the fire.

The system is designed around the three components necessary for producing a quality pre-suppression foam:  water, nitrogen and foam concentrate. The system has been engineered to auto-proportion the three components with the turn of a valve. That's all it takes. When wildfire strikes, simply roll out the supplied 1-1/2 inch fire hose, open the valve and begin applying foam, a fire protectant 4 to 5 times more effective than water!

Foam Fire Defense systems use no fossil fuel engine or pump so there's no carbon footprint or hazardous fuels to manage. Upon activating, the system will begin producing a thick, long-lasting foam that adheres to building surfaces and plants, elevating their moisture level to prevent ignition while reflecting heat and encapsulating the fuels preventing oxygen and heat from coming in contact with them.
